1 3/8" | Jade, Sterling Silver | Handmade Earrings

Natural Yellow Jade and Antiqued Sterling Silver Artisan Earrings

Buttery yellow natural jade spheres from Burma are framed by Sterling Silver wire in a herringbone weave. To make the color of the jade pop, I put a dark patina on the silver and then polished it by hand until I achieved the perfect dusky, sexy color I was looking for.

I dropped the finished wire pieces from my own handmade French hook style findings that have wire wrapped loops. This means that the two parts of the earrings are wired together with no open loops, which offers a cool design element, but it also means that they can't be changed to other ear wire options.

This pair of handmade earrings is short and sassy, and will compliment any outfit, and any mood! Pair them up with virtually all earth tones as well as blues, greens, black, purple... really, they'll go with anything!

* Earrings hang 1 3/8" (3.3cm approx) from top of ear wires
* Jade is 8mm in diameter

A note about Burmese Jade: The Burmese Freedom and Democracy Act of 2003 made it illegal to import rubies, jade, and other gemstones from Burma. This strand of beads was imported and purchased well before that date, making it legal to own them, but the likelihood that I'll ever find another strand is very slim! Lavender is one of the most rare colors of jade. I purchased these stones from a reputable dealer with whom I've had many dealings over the years, so I trust the source. She assured me that the beads are natural, and I believe that they are. That said, I haven't had them tested, so I'm basing my conclusion strictly on what I was told. I also left one bead out in the sun for several months to see if it faded (which most dyed stones will) and there was no color change.
