Lavender Jade and Smoky Quartz With Sterling Silver Herringbone Earrings

These unique handmade artisan earrings are the only pair I've ever made like them. They feature stunning natural lavender jade from Burma, and misty pale smoky quartz, surrounded with lots of sterling silver. A sterling silver herringbone weave frames the pastel lavender jade spheres and coordinates perfectly with the wire wrapped bead caps that embellish the faceted smoky quartz teardrops.

The jade is translucent, although it's proven to be very difficult to capture that with my camera. The shade of lavender varies from one light source to another, changing subtly from very misty to a bit more saturated.

The smoky quartz has just a whisper of brown tint, and the faceting is remarkable, making them sparkle with every slight movement. The color combination of lavender and brown is stunning, and is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

* Earrings hang 2" (5cm) from the top of Sterling Silver leverback findings
* Jade = 8mm
* Smoky Quartz = approx 6 x 8mm

A note about Burmese Jade: The Burmese Freedom and Democracy Act of 2003 made it illegal to import rubies, jade, and other gemstones from Burma. This strand of beads was imported and purchased well before that date, making it legal to own them, but the likelihood that I'll ever find another strand is very slim! Lavender is one of the most rare colors of jade. I purchased these stones from a reputable dealer with whom I've had many dealings over the years, so I trust the source. She assured me that the beads are natural, and I believe that they are. That said, I haven't had them tested, so I'm basing my conclusion strictly on what I was told. I also left one bead out in the sun for several months to see if it faded (which most dyed stones will) and there was no color change.
