A handmade Bali Sterling silver link offers the perfect swing for these heavily calcified ancient Roman Glass pieces. They're slightly translucent, and absolutely gorgeous! One of the pieces has some stunning iridescence, and both beads have texture and interesting characteristics. You'll notice in one picture that one of the shards was drilled so the piece of Sterling silver wire shows from the back. I love that!
The color is a bit difficult to describe, but I'll call it pale rustic green, with one of the pieces having a hint of brown.
This glass came from Afghanistan, and were pieces of broken dishes and drinking vessels. These were found along the Silk Road, and are estimated to be a minimum of 900years old, and were buried in the sand for hundreds of years. I love to touch and feel ancient glass, it seems like each piece tells a story, and I like to imagine what it was in its former life, centuries ago.
