Rare and fantastic vintage cracked givre glass from West Germany, believed to be from the 1920's, are the focus of these handcrafted earrings from Sharon Burgess of Night Sky Jewelry.
The translucent beads are bright true red, with opaque black swirls inside. The shape is fun and unique, having three sides with rounded edges. I made knotted headpins to mount the glass, and then dropped them from double lengths of small bright Sterling Silver Rolo chain, one of my favorite chain styles. Tiny Sterling daisy spacers sit at the bottom of the beads.
They're shown on my own handcrafted Sterling Silver earwires.
* Earrings hang 2.5" (5cm) from the top of the earwire
* Glass beads = Approx. 11mm x 11mm (They aren't the same from all angles, 11mm is at the widest point.)
All metal is Sterling Silver, and the design and work are my own.
About six years ago I found a few of these beads and bought them all, and then felt really bad when I ran out. Later, I got lucky and found a lady who had a few more, in several colors, so I bought them all, as well! I'm not saying that I have the only ones in the world, but I've never found them anywhere else, so if you like these, don't wait! My supply is very limited, and I doubt that I'll ever find more.
