Brilliant fire rages within the smooth Sunstone pears that are the focal point of these earrings from Sharon Burgess of Night Sky Jewelry. Bright Sterling Silver wire wrapping connects everything together to create long, playful, and stunning earrings. The sparkling briolettes swing beneath a stack of sunstone spheres, separated by unique Sterling spacers.
Sunstone is a feldspar, and fine specimens have aventurescence, a glittery metallic glow, sometimes referred to as schiller. These stones have a rusty copper base color that is loaded with gold and orange flash, or aventurescence. They look different at every angle, and under different light sources. I've held on to this matched pair of stones for several years, and I think they're about the end of my stash, especially at this size.
The smaller round beads are also beautiful with some fire, but they're not as glittery as the pears, showing more of the rust color. The contrast is beautiful!
They are shown on my own handcrafted Sterling Silver ear wires, completing the playful Bohemian style of the earrings.
* Earrings hang approx 2 1/8 - 2.25" (5.4cm - 5.7cm) from the top of the earwires. One earring is about 2mm (.078") shorter than the other, due to slight difference in the size of the stones. As earrings, this won't be noticeable because your head will be between them. ;-)
* Sunstone Spheres = approx. 5.8mm
* Sunstone Pears = approx. 9.8 x 15mm (11.5ct total weight)
All metal is Sterling Silver, and all design and crafting is my own.
