Earthy, rustic green Kyanite, cut into large, smooth, marquise or leaf shapes, are wrapped with sterling silver wire and dropped beneath a stack of chocolate brown bone and Australian Gaspiete in this pair of handcrafted earrings from Sharon Burgess of Night Sky Jewelry. (That's me!)
The Kyanite is partly translucent, meaning that when held up to light, you can see into them. As is typical of Kyanite, there is a silver sheen through much of it that is beautiful! There are some brown matrix that are brought out by the bone barrel shapes.
Natural Australian Gaspeite is rare, and very hard to find. I've had a few strands of different sizes and shapes stored away for several years, and because I know I'll probably never find more, I'm pretty stingy with it. The Heishi beads in these earrings are natural, genuine Australian Gaspeite. The vivid apple green is a stunning color, and with the brown matrix, these stones really are perfect with the Kyanite and bone.
I don't know much about the bone beads. They were purchased at a Native American shop near me, and were given to me by a friend because he thought I'd love to work with them. And I do!
I'm an old hippie, so this style of jewelry fits me well, but I'm thinking that anyone would love to wear these! They're long and full of playful movement, the colors are outrageously gorgeous, and they were made with love that will forever be attached to them!
All metal is sterling silver, and all designing and work was done by me.
