Cobalt Blue and Forest Green Glass Dogon Bead Necklace - Sterling Silver

Antique African trade beads are linked together with handcrafted figure-eight links to create this unique bib necklace. These glass beads are from the mid to late 1800's and were a favorite of the Dogon Tribe. They are also called Annular Wound Beads and Dutch Donuts.

Each glass ring was made by hand, and each one is different from the next. There is some dispute as to whether Dogon beads were made in Germany or Holland, but the newest evidence seems to indicate they came from Holland. I crafted the links from 20 gauge square sterling silver wire and added a beautiful gunmetal gray patina that goes perfectly with the glass circles.

The necklace is finished with sterling cable link chain and a Karen Hill Tribe toggle clasp.

Necklace = 17" (.43cm) from end to end
Center Drop = 2.5" (6.35cm)
Dogon Beads = 12mm-14.5mm (approx. .5" and slightly larger)

The links and chain are sterling silver, the clasp is 97-99% pure silver.

Please read my policies for important information about shipping, payment, returns, etc. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to help.

Thank you.
